The city of Aurora marked the tenth anniversary of its flagship annual event, Global Fest. This festival that has become a symbol of the multicultural harmony that flourishes in Aurora brought together representatives from over a hundred countries that now call this diverse and welcoming community home.

The event was attended by talented residents who came from all corners of the world to share their art and express their cultural identity. One of the featured artists was young piano prodigy Jude Kofie, just 11 years old, who took the audience on a musical journey from Ghana to Aurora.

From Chihuahua, Mexico, came José “La Gatita” Hernández, who conquered the hearts of the public with his particular style of singing and his authentic representation of Mexican culture. Another talented resident who enriched the Global Fest was Eddie Spanic, a Honduran designer.

The monarch and the scarlet macaw

Spanic decided to share his unique creations in this cultural setting, showing the world his works inspired by nature and the identity of Honduras. One of his captivating creations portrayed the majesty of the monarch butterfly, while the other depicted the Scarlet Macaw, a proud symbol of the country.

“Being here is a way to say thank you to this city for the opportunities it has given me. I’m excited to share my creations with everyone and celebrate the diversity that unites us,” Spanic said. The Global Fest in Aurora, Colorado has once again shown that unity in diversity is possible.

Mayor Coffman’s message

“This festival has promoted mutual understanding, respect and collaboration between the communities that coexist in this city. As the festival continues to evolve, its impact on the city and the lives of its residents is undeniable, highlighting the beauty that emerges when different cultures intertwine,” said Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman.
