THE LIFE OF STEPHEN HOGAN WAS CELEBRATED AT THE HERITAGE CHRISTIAN CENTER

Newsletter/El Comercio de Colorado

Hundreds of people came to the Heritage Christian Center to remember Steve Hogan and to offer support to his family. Hogan lost his battle to cancer days after he entered hospice care. At the ceremony, his son Tim fondly remembered the family trips and dinners, as well as the good times his father spent with his children and grandchildren. Tim explained how his father always made clear to his family how important they were to him.

Those who spoke at the ceremony highlighted Hogan’s ability to unite the community. This virtue was most visible when the tragedy at the Aurora theaters took place. They also noted his skills to promote economic growth and job creation during his more than 30 years of service for the City of Aurora. In light of his legacy, Wendy Mitchell, president of the Aurora Economic Development Council, announced that the new convention center in Aurora will named after him.

Consulate of El Salvador in Aurora

Hogan was an advocate of diversity in Aurora. Under his lead as a Mayor he relaunched the Sister Cities program, traveling to Adama, Ethiopia, Seongnam City, Korea and Old Cuscatlán, El Salvador. He fully supported the creation of the International & Immigration Affairs Office and the action plan this office advances. The Aurora Global fest has his personal signature. Hogan also added his enthusiasm to the creation of the Consulate of El Salvador in Aurora.
